Colonel-general Edward A. VOROBIOV

Member of the Advisory Council of the "Russia-USA: XXI Century" Program.

Member of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Federal Assembly. Colonel-General Retd. Member of the Defense Committee of the State Duma. Chairman of the Subcommittee on Military Development. Independent MP.

Born in 1938 in Voronezh.

Promoted Colonel-General in 1988.

Drafted into Army in 1957.

1987 - 1991 Commander of the Central Task Forces of Warsaw Treaty, Commander-in-Chief of withdrawal from Czechoslovakia.

1992 - first Commander - in - Chief of the United peacemaking Forces in Moldavia and Lated appointed as a First Deputy Commander- in-Chief of Land Forces.

In 1994 refused to act as a Commander of the combat operation in Chechny and quitted from Military Forces.

Awarded with many Russian decorations, including the Order for Personal Courage.

In the State Duma he sticks to Acts "On the Military Reform in the Russian Federation", "On Civil Control for Military Institution in the of Russian Federation", "On Civil Service, Alternative Military Service".

Member of the Political Council of the party "Democratic Choice of Russia". Married, has son and daughter.
