Member of the Advisory Council of the "Russia-USA:XXI Century" Program. Born in 1946 in
Nizhni Novgorod region of the Russian Federation.
He is a professional diplomat. In 1996 upon the
completion of the last assignment as the Press counsellor at the Russian Embassy
in the USA, Derbenev has been invited to work at the Press-service of the
Russian President Administration as a chief of an advance planning bureau.
Speaks four languages: English, French, Hindi & Nepali.
Married, has two sons.
Special interest: Russian and international military history.
Graduated from the Moscow State Institute of the International Relations where he got his M. A. in
international relations and later joined the Foreign Service.
From 1973 through 1996
posted to different assignments in Russia and abroad.
